U.B.C. SCAFFOLD TRAINING – Overview

O.S.H.A. regulations require that any person using a scaffold must receive training for that type of scaffold and have knowledge of related O.S.H.A. standards. Erectors & dismantlers of the scaffold must receive additional safety training. O.S.H.A. has identified Welded Frame & Mobile Tower, Tube & Coupler, and Systems as the most common types of scaffold in the construction industry.

Since carpenters perform the majority of scaffold work, the U.B.C., in cooperation with O.S.H.A. and other industry partners, has developed the following series of classes designed to comply with O.S.H.A. standards, protect our members and protect the jurisdiction of this important part of our trade.

U.B.C. 32 – HOUR SCAFFOLD ERECTOR:    Registration Fee – $25

This class prepares the trainee for working with the most common types of scaffold equipment: Welded Frame & Mobile Tower, Tube & Clamp and Systems. O.S.H.A. regulations are covered as well as information specific to each type of scaffold. Both classroom and hand-on training are utilized. U.B.C. Scaffold Erector cards will be issued upon successful completion of this class.

Prerequisite: None     Hand tools, Hard Hats and Safety Glasses are required.

Course Length: 32 Hours

Spring Session: 

• Tue., Apr 30 – 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.
• Thu., May 2  - 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.
• Sat., May 4 – 7:00 – 3:30 p.m.
• Tue., May 7 - 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.
• Thu., May 9 –  5:30 – 9:30 p.m.
• Sat., May 11- 7:00 – 3:30 p.m.

U.B.C. 16-HR WELDED FRAME & MOBILE TOWER ERECTOR:      Registration Fee – $25

This class prepares the trainee for working with Welded Frame & Mobile Tower scaffolds ONLY! O.S.H.A. regulations are covered in detail as well as information regarding the use of this type of scaffold. U.B.C. Scaffold Erector Card for Welded Frame & Mobile Tower will be issued upon successful completion of this class.

U.B.C. SCAFFOLD REFRESHER COURSE:      Registration Fee – $25

If you have taken a U.B.C. Scaffold Erectors Course in the past and your card is about to expire, you must take the U.B.C. Refresher Course in order to update your U.B.C. card. If your card is expired by more than 1 year, you must retake the entire class.

Course Length: 8 Hours

Prerequisite: Current U.B.C. Scaffold Erector Card
